Welcome Home!

Associated Student Logo

We are excited to welcome you to the new school year!

A.S. has a very transparent vision for this year...The Year of Heart. We will emphasize leading from the heart. We will show students through our actions that A.S. is here for them, cares about them, and advocates for them. We will be reaching out to students in intentional and direct ways. We will be speaking about this more at upcoming events. We cannot wait to see how you incorporate the Year of Heart into your daily A.S. lives and more! We have so much planned for this year and in partnership and collaboration with you all, we look forward to leaving our heart-print on SDSU.

— Chris and Christina

Cassie Weinberg, A.S. Student Leader
SDSU Green Love/ Sustainability Commission Chair

Cassie Weinberg

Congratulations to SDSU Green Love/ Sustainability Commission Chair Cassie Weinberg for being featured in the most recent MTS Community Impact and Performance report! As an Associated Students student leader she promotes sustainability on campus and leads by example.

Cassie is an emerging leader with San Diego State University’s Associated Students. She just began her first term as chair for the Associated Students’ Sustainability/Green Love Commission, which directs student involvement in programs, services and initiatives designed to promote sustainability. Cassie chooses transit often and encourages other students to make the same choice.

“I've taken the Sycuan Green Line Trolley many times this year, whether I'm going to Fashion Valley or SDCCU Stadium for a football game. As the next Green Love Commissioner, I'm especially passionate about students using public transit rather than driving because of the carbon emissions they can save, as well as alleviating traffic congestion. Students should use public transit because it's an easy way of exploring San Diego without having to rely on Google Maps on the confusing freeways!”

Did you know?

In San Diego, an individual in a two-person household can save enough money taking public transportation, living with one less car, to pay for a year ’s tuition (including books and supplies) at San Diego State University.

Campus Safety Week
September 2018

Campus Safety

In December of 2017, the A.S. Campus Safety Subcommittee was started. This task force, made up of students and different University departments, including the University Police Department (UPD), University Senate, Parking & Transportation Services and many within the Division of Student Affairs, focuses on providing awareness for on-campus resources to further ensure student safety. Most importantly, this subcommittee has become a platform for student voices to be heard. It strives to not just inform, but to respond to students’ concerns and needs.

This September, the A.S. Campus Community Commission and the Campus Safety Subcommittee are hosting the second annual Campus Safety Week. This week aims to prepare students for numerous circumstances that pose a threat to today’s generation. With self-defense training, a transportation fair, experienced panels, active shooter response training, and an opportunity to engage with the University Police, students have the opportunity to focus on a variety of safety tips and mindfully move forth with the school year.
