I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President Milan Rawls called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.

VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS 

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, Dr. Caryl Montero-Adams reported on the following: 
    Gratitude was expressed to all students who are actively advocating on behalf of the SWANA/MENA communities and their continued efforts.
    It was acknowledged that this is a demanding period for many students, particularly those navigating the transition toward graduation.
    Members were reminded that a Midnight Study Break event will be taking place in the Union soon. Further details to be announced.
  2. Count MENA In/Swana Campus Survey Results Presentation - Jasmin Zeis Khalil, Noah Stuart, Karen Sawouq (Time Certain: 4:45 p.m.)
    Conducted to better understand the experiences, needs, and representation of Middle Eastern, North African, South West Asian, and North African (MENA/SWANA) students on campus. The presentation highlighted key data collected from student respondents and outlined the significance of formally recognizing and disaggregating MENA/SWANA students within campus demographics and institutional records.

 

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. Appointment of ASCLC Members to ASJAC Appointments and Review Committee (Action)
    A motion was made to approve the appointment of Julia, Ava, and Payton as members to the ASJAC Appointments and Review Committee, with Jamie and Natalie serving as alternates. 
    It was moved and seconded to approve the Appointment of ASCLC Members to ASJAC Appointments and Review Committee.

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Milan Rawls, Executive Vice President, reported on the following:
    Aztec Achievement Award winners have been selected. The theme for this year's event is Enchanted Forest; formal attire is required. 
    Admitted Students Day was a success, with outreach conducted to prospective students and parents to encourage involvement in A.S.

    Financial workshops will be coming up soon. Further details to be announced.

  11. Jasmin Zeis-Khalil, ASBOD Student-At-Large,reported on the following:Commissioners who require a space to present are encouraged to reach out directly.
  12. Ava Alvarado, ASBOD Student-At-Large, reported on the following:The student Bill of Rights was passed last week!
  13. Aztec Student Union Board reported on the following: Five additional ASUB events are now visible on the A.S. website. As the year winds down, there will be masseuses and therapy dogs available at upcoming events. Members are encouraged to be on the lookout for these announcements.
  14. Campus Community Commission reported on the following:The Good Neighbor Cleanup event will be taking place in the near future. Further details to be announced.
  15. Community Service Commission reported on the following: Members were advised regarding the upcoming state elections. Commission transitions are currently underway.
  16. Student Support Commission reported on the following:Commissioner appointments for the next term will be taking place on Monday.
  17. Recreation and Wellness Commission reported on the following: Adapted Athletics has assigned two students for track and field for the upcoming year. A membership appeal is scheduled for the 7th regarding a member who was suspended for two weeks for filming in the ARC; a month-long appeal was initiated and the student was offered an opportunity to speak on their own behalf. Elections are currently underway. Additional upcoming events include Archery Tag in the ARC on April 30th, a Climbing Wall event this Friday, and a Coachella-themed Fitness Happy Hour class.
  18. Student Diversity Commission reported on the following: A report was given on the SWANA/MENA campus survey. Members were reminded about the upcoming elections.Updates from today's meeting included the completion of the DEI survey. All members are encouraged to invite BCC members to fill out the survey. Work on the DEI plan is ongoing, and commissioner appointments are scheduled for next week.
  19. Sustainability/Green Love Commission reported on the following:A commissioner was appointed today, with Lila Barrons elected as representative. The Sustainability Summit is scheduled for April 22, 2026 in Montezuma Hall, where two plane tickets will be raffled.
  20. Marketing and Communications Commission reported on the following: No report.

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. A Theatre Showcase will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend and show support, as a fellow student will be performing for the final time at SDSU.
  2. On Wednesday, April 22nd, from 2:00–3:00 p.m., in Templo Mayor Council Member Sean Elo-Rivera will be presenting a proposed policy addressing hidden fees in renter leases. Students who have experienced questionable charges from their landlords are encouraged to attend and share their experiences. In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, t-shirts have been displayed throughout the Union to represent a portion of women who have been victims of sexual assault. Members are encouraged to take a moment to acknowledge this meaningful display.
  3. Community Homecoming Royals will be taking place today from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in Tula. All are welcome to attend.
