Looking Back to Move Ahead

It was an exciting year for Associated Students and its Executive Officers. They made huge strides in improving relations with the campus and the community and the camaraderie of their group was key to all they achieved during their tenure.

Their biggest achievement of the year was the passage of a referendum allowing for a fee increase to pay for development and building of a new student union.

Executive Council Members 2006-2007

Other notable accomplishments included:

  • Formation of the President's Council which served as a vehicle for keeping student organizations better informed
  • A comprehensive study of student opinions on the effectiveness of General Education courses at SDSU
  • Development of the Good Neighbor Program - a peer-to-peer program designed to aid students living in the College Area with tools and behaviors to make them better neighbors
  • The birth of the "FRoG," a fundraising guide for student groups

And there's no rest for this motivated bunch...

  • Chris Manigault, outgoing President, will begin the Television and Film Production graduate program at Chapman University this fall.
  • Former Executive Vice President Kristi Kimura is moving to San Jose, Calif. to start working in public relations.
  • LaToya Jarrett, the outgoing Vice President of External Affairs, will travel before starting work in the political arena in Sacramento.
  • Outgoing Vice President of University Affairs, Dennis A. Kramer II, will be entering a Master's of Education in Post-Secondary Student Affairs Administration at USC in the fall.
  • Outgoing Vice President of Finance, Matt Keipper, will be leading AS into the new academic year as the incoming AS President. Keipper has plenty of plans for the upcoming year and he will strive to expand on all the achievements that were gained by the 2005-2006 AS Executive Officers.
