Recreation Class Lead Supervisor
Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Coordinator, this position creates, organizes, maintains, and schedules the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) non-credit recreation classes for each semester.
Primary Tasks:
- Ensures the diverse, updated recreational and fitness needs of members and non-members are met with a broad-based comprehensive program focusing first and foremost on a safe environment.
- Encourages the University community to enjoy the social and health benefits of the Aztec Recreation Center.
- Maintains current and updated Rec Class schedules and ensures all room reservations and setups are scheduled and approved without conflict.
- Maintains constant contact with all appropriate Recreation Class Instructors and informs them of all changes in schedules and rooms.
- Attends at least one of each Recreational Class offered at the ARC to ensure all customers are pleased with the no-credit class. Work schedule entails being available during the evening hours when most Rec Classes are offered to ensure all classes begin smoothly and rosters are given to all instructors.
- Market and Promotes classes on SDSU Campus as well as to the Residence Halls and ARC members.
- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, evaluates, and directly supervises all Recreation Classes; ensures all personnel have completed the necessary paperwork (job application, W-4, information sheet, I-9, CPR/AED & First Aid) prior to beginning work.
- Ensures that all cancellations will be dealt with in a prompt and orderly manner that includes calling all participants and making notation of the cancellation in all appropriate areas.
- Ensures all refunds are given when approved by the Recreation Program Coordinator
- Ensures a safe, enjoyable and professional operation by supporting and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Aztec Recreation Center.

ARC Team Challenge Lead Supervisor
Definition
The ARC Team Challenge Lead Supervisor is a part-time position serving as an assistant to the Aztec Adventures Coordinator in managing the day to day operations of our ropes course and teambuilding program. Aztec Adventures is part of the Campus Recreation program managed by the Associated Students Inc. of SDSU. Specific hours will be agreed upon based on largely on class schedule. Seeking candidates committed to becoming an integral member of a team of full-time, part-time and volunteer staff. Qualifications include self-motivation, ability to collaborate with other professionals in the field, talent for planning and completing short term and long term projects, and a minimum of two years experience supervising and training others in ropes course and teambuilding facilitation.
Primary Tasks:
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate and supervise part-time employees and volunteers.
- Work cooperatively with all Campus Recreation and Aztec Adventures staff to achieve our mission to serve the SDSU campus community. Work with other Aztec Adventures leads to implement successful programming.
- Possess proficient working knowledge of high and low ropes course operations, maintenance, equipment, and safety systems.
- Review and update a comprehensive staff manual to supplement staff training and assist ropes course facilitators.
- Facilitate a full schedule of staff training opportunities on a semester to semester basis, consisting of facilitation and technical training sessions.
- Develop/ maintain an examination and evaluation process for all trainees and new hires.
- Review and update a comprehensive risk management plan and emergency procedure training on an annual basis.
- Maintain a working budget with the guidance of the Outdoor Programs Coordinator, monitoring budget expenditures and staying within specific income and expense parameters.

- Take responsibility for all facets of ropes course and teambuilding programs, including:
- ensure all program cash advances, check requests, and relevant program purchases are secured

Qualifications:
- Ability to show documentation and or demonstrate previous training/certification in ropes course and teambuilding facilitation, with at least two year's experience in the field.
- Ability to supervise 2-8 volunteer and paid staff at teambuilding, ropes course, and retreat programs, ranging in length from 2 hours to overnight experiences.
- Ability to confidently facilitate, instruct and talk in front of groups from 12 to 50 participants.
- California Class B Commercial Drivers License or ability to obtain it within two months of being hired.
- Must possess current Adult CPR and Standard First Aid certifications, and either possess a Wilderness First Responder Certification, or be working towards obtaining one within first 6 months of employment
- Enthusiasm for ropes course and teambuilding activities and programs.

Recreation Attendant
Definition:
Under direction of Games Area Supervisor and/or Recreation Lead, the Recreation Attendant shares the responsibility for day-to-day operations and customer service of the games area.
Typical Tasks:
- Responsible for regular maintenance/mailing of 30 and 60 days accounts in arrears.
- Respond to questions from customers on account balances, and other routine information.
- Collect on past due accounts.
- Follow up with data entry, EFT Returns, Credit Card Disputes, returned mail and updating members' account information.
- Responsible for account adjustments, write-offs, and assisting the accounting supervisor in evaluating accounts for collections.

Marketing Graduate Assistant

Definition:
Under the direction of the AS/SDSU Campus Recreation Marketing Coordinator the Marketing Graduate Assistant (MGA) is responsible for managing and supervising the campus recreation marketing research, secret shopping and sales functions.
Functions:
- The MGA is responsible for supervising the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) sales staff and responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, motivating and disciplining. The MGA works often as a sales representative to cover shifts, deliver presentations and to experience the sales assignment first-hand.
- The MGA prepares bi-monthly commission reports carefully documenting all commissioned activities and retains organized records with back-up.
- Individual must be fully knowledgeable of all the benefits (physical, mental and economic) of ARC membership and be ready, willing and able to communicate the benefits to current and prospective members clearly and effectively. In this position, the MGA will become knowledgeable of fitness industry trends and competitive strategy.
- The MGA works with Marketing Coordinator as Public Relations liaison and is responsible for writing and issuing press releases and acts as spokesperson delivering presentations or public addresses.
- The MGA works with Campus Recreation program coordinators and other campus recreation student employees including Graduate Assistants, Lead Supervisors and other marketing staff.
- The MGA is responsible for preparing accurate and timely marketing research studies and customer satisfaction surveys and preparing reports to help campus recreation team members improve program and facility offerings.
- The MGA is responsible for managing the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) secret shopper program by disseminating comprehensive and thorough monthly shopping scenarios, coordinating customer service committee reviews of the shopping reports, ensuring commissions for outstanding employee performances, and disseminating results of secret shopping scenarios to relevant campus recreation staff.
- The MGA is responsible for recruiting and retaining up to 20 secret shoppers and ensuring that all shoppers are adequately qualified, diverse, and that shoppers perform and report upon the shopping scenarios to a high degree of quality.
- The MGA assists the Marketing Coordinator in developing and running special events each semester including Health Expos and the ARC After Dark.
- A proactive, positive and conscientious demeanor is required. Must make a minimum of twelve hours of the 20-hour weekly shift during regular business hours.

Experience:

Knowledge of marketing research skills and tools helpful, but more importantly a desire to learn these skills is necessary. Ability to work well with diverse staff and customers required. Intramural Officials’ Coordinator
Definition
Under the direction of the Intramural Sports Coordinator, responsible for coordination of the Intramural Officiating Program.
Typical Tasks
- Recruit, assist in the selection of, and evaluate all Intramural Officials.
- Train Intramural Officials through the use clinics, practicals, examinations, and weekly meetings. Administer examinations to all Intramural Sports Officials to include mechanics, positioning, rules knowledge, risk management, and Intramural Policies and Procedures.
- Schedule Intramural Officials for all regular season and playoff contests.
- Assist the Sports Officials Association (SOA) in meetings, executive leadership, and community contacts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a low-cost promotional campaign designed to enhance program appeal to targeted groups and ensure team entries and budget expectations are met.
- Attend, Intramural Sports and SOA meetings with other key staff and supervisor on a regular basis.
- Assist the Intramural Coordinator in the planning and scheduling of all Intramural contests.
- Supervise Intramural events (including IFC and Sorority sports), primarily during nights and weekends.
- Ensure adherence to the operational policies and procedures as outlined in the Intramural Sports Handbook and Staff Handbook, paying special attention to issues regarding risk management, sportsmanship, safety, and the completion of signed liability waivers at every game.
- Maintain, control, and inventory all program-related equipment on a weekly basis. Recommend equipment purchases to supervisor.

Membership Services Representative I
Definition:
Under the supervision of the Membership Registration Supervisor and LEAD staff, will be responsible for greeting customers, customer registration, membership entry, filing, washing and drying towels, checking out equipment, and providing information to customers.
Typical Tasks:
The Member Services Rep I is responsible for greeting all members and providing front line customer service. MSR staff are responsible for explaining membership benefits and processing the sale/registration, filing and equipment check-out. MSR's are responsible for courteously providing information over the counter and on the phone. Will be responsible for point of sale, cash handling, filing, and organizational projects as assigned.
Relationships:
Responsible to the Registration Supervisor, Member Services Lead, and Member Services Rep II.
Qualifications:

Must be a regularly enrolled SDSU student carrying at least six units per semester. CPR and First Aid certification are required.
Experience:

Group Outreach Representative
Definition:
Under the direction of the Sales Supervisor, the Group Outreach Representative is responsible for Club/Organization/Greek outreach, membership sales, and promotional tabling for the Aztec Recreation Center.
Functions:
- The Group Outreach Rep is responsible for developing contacts within the SDSU clubs and organizations and presenting Aztec Recreation Center membership benefits at Campus Club/Organization/Greek meetings: scheduling one to three presentations weekly.
- Alongside other sales staff, the Group Outreach Representative works directly with current and potential customers, selling Aztec Recreation Center memberships and promoting Campus Recreation programs to the SDSU community.
- The Group Outreach Representative will perform regular sales functions and must be fully knowledgeable of all the benefits of membership (economic, physical and mental) in addition to knowing ARC membership policies and prices.
- The Group Outreach Representative must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with current and potential customers.
- Maintains that ARC membership forms generated are completed properly, entered into the Aztec Recreation Center database daily, and filed.
- Ensures that each customer encounter is courteous and efficient.
- Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator and Group Sales Supervisor with booking, preparing and giving presentations to campus clubs and organization. In addition the Group Outreach Rep will be responsible for relaying necessary follow-up and action items to appropriate campus recreation program coordinators.
- As a member of the AS/Campus Recreation marketing team, the Group Outreach Rep will share ideas and assist in creating marketing programs to enhance membership sales.
- The Group Outreach Rep will provide a weekly sales report and Club/Organization presentations schedules for management.

Personal Trainer
Definition:
Responsible to the Fitness Coordinator as the Lead Supervisor of the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) Personal Training Program.
Typical Tasks:
- Fulfill all regular duties of an ARC Personal Trainer; ensure all Personal Trainers are scheduled and arranged to support agreed upon standards during all special events held in the ARC.
- Recommend revisions to the ARC Personal Training and/or Facility Manual.
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate risk management plan; review all Accident and Injury Reports; ensure ALL Personal Trainers maintain appropriate certifications (Personal Training, CPR and First Aid).
- Recruit, train, schedule, evaluate and directly supervise all Personal Trainers; ensure all personnel have completed the necessary paperwork (job application, W-4, information sheet, I-9) prior to beginning work.
- Ensure staff attend in-service training prior to beginning work; ensure on-going training sessions are held on a regular basis; develop and enforce all rules and regulations in the employee manual; evaluate each employee once per semester and provide feedback for continued improvement.

Aztec Recreation Administrative Assistant
Definition:
The Administrative Assistant assists the Campus Recreation Administrative Supervisor in accomplishing their responsibilities. She/he will be expected to answer basic general information questions regarding Campus Recreation Center. Primary responsibilities are: answer the telephones, greet visitors, routine typing, filing, distribute the mail, assists in maintaining office supplies.
Typical Tasks:
The Administrative Assistant must be courteous and pleasant at all times. He/she must be aware of current events and general information regarding the Campus Recreation and the University. Definition:
Under the direction of the Facility Coordinator, Facility Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC).
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the ARC facility; ensure open and closing duties are performed; ensure non-members do not use the ARC; ensure interior and exterior doors are locked and unlocked as appropriate; be highly visible in all areas of the ARC; secure the locker rooms; maintain communication via walkie-talkie radio.

Definition:
Under direct supervision of Climbing Wall Lead Supervisor and overall supervision of Outdoor Programs Coordinator, will follow through on below mentioned duties on a week to week, day to day, basis. Specific hours to be mutually agreed upon at time of hire and can be changed with the approval of Climbing Wall Lead Supervisor. Become integral member of hard working team of full, part-time and volunteer staff at the ARC. Ability to work as a team member and independently. Group Exercise Instructor
Basic Function:
Under the General direction of the Fitness Graduate Assistant, teaches one or more formats of group exercise including but not limited to Body Sculpt, Cycle, Cycle, Hi-Lo, Kick Boxing, Physio Ball, Step, STOMP, as well as Sports Conditioning/Boot Camp Style classes. Instructors may also teach such specialty classes such as Hip-Hop, Salsa, Running, Tai Chi, Yoga and Women's Cross Training.

Certification from relevant certifying body such as AFAA, ACE, Cycle Reebok, Yoga Center, etc in addition to CPR and First Aid certifications mandatory. Instructors must keep all certification current.

Marketing Research Assistant
Definition:
Under the direction of the Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Graduate Assistant, the Marketing Research Assistant is responsible for managing marketing research projects and the Secret Shopper program at the Aztec Recreation Center. The Marketing Assistant will also assist in marketing campaigns and special event development and implementation.
Functions:
The Marketing Assistant manages market research functions at the Aztec Recreation Center:
- Formulates market research problems and objectives
- Conducts qualitative research including Focus Groups, Depth Interviews, and Observation.
- Conducts quantitative research including survey preparation and data gathering. Uses SPSS software to generate statistical report generation, and provides complete analysis reports for management;
- Maintains the Secret Shopper Program including communication with secret shopper volunteers, management reports, distribution of completed reports, generation of reporting scenarios, and updating tracking systems to ensure information availability to management;
- Prepares reports from the Aztec Recreation Center membership database.
Works closely with the Marketing Coordinator in creating marketing programs to enhance membership sales and membership retention. Assists in creating and purchasing the components for campaigns. Assists in tracking the results of campaigns.
Assists in preparing and running Special Events promoting Aztec Recreation Center Membership.

Becoming an integral member of a hard working team of full-time and lead staff at the ARC, he/she shall possess the ability to work independently and as a team member. Leads should also have the ability to take strong initiative and responsibility for their staffs’ customer service skills. Tasks:
The primary responsibility of the Information Services Lead will be to ensure that the ARC Informational Services desk is covered at all times during normal operating hours. He/she will recruit, interview, hire, train, motivate, evaluate, discipline, and terminate (if necessary) part-time student employees. The Lead will uphold all of the policies and procedures in the program and be a role model for other staff. He/she must be aware of current events and all general information. The Lead will setup and facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure safety, customer service, and any other pertinent information is explained to staff.

Information Services Representative
Definition:
The Campus Recreation Information Services Representative is under the direction of the Administrative Office Lead and the Campus Recreation Administrative Supervisor. The Information Services Representative will follow through on below mentioned duties while becoming an integral member of the hard working team of full and part-time staff at the ARC.
The Information Services Representative is responsible for the following:
- To provide excellent customer service to all members. This is our number one goal.
- Secondly, to keep current with all upcoming events in Campus Recreation.
- Greet all members before they reach you.
- Answer the telephone promptly before the third ring.
- Keep the update binder up to date with current information.
- Understand all departments within Campus Recreation.
- The ability to give directions/ guidance to members on programs offered by Campus Recreation.

Typical Tasks:
The Information Services Representative must be courteous and pleasant to members at all times. They must provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers by greeting them promptly and with a smile. He/she must be aware of all current events and general information regarding Campus Recreation. They must be able to explain services such as; jobs offered, Intramurals, and Sport Clubs, etc. They will also assist the membership desk with Residence Hall registrations.

Definition:
Under the direction of the AS/SDSU Campus Recreation Marketing Coordinator the Marketing Lead is responsible for managing and supervising the graphic design projects and creative staff consisting of student Graphic Artists and Web Designers. This position involves copy writing and editing as well as communicating with recreation program coordinators to ensure timely and accurate marketing communications.
Typical Tasks:
- The Marketing Lead is responsible for supervising the marketing department creative staff in addition to assisting with day-to-day departmental supervision. Supervision responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, training, motivating and disciplining a team of 3 to 5 student designers.
- The lead works with Campus Recreation program coordinators, Graduate Assistants and Lead Supervisors in preparing accurate and timely promotional material including fliers, brochures, posters, banners, displays, print media and major campaigns. Proactively disseminates new program information to marketing department creative staff provides additional information and clarification as needed.
- The lead updates the graphic work order tracking queue daily and provides weekly activity reports to the Marketing Coordinator. The Lead conducts regular staff meetings with staff in their charge and actively participates in monthly Marketing Department meetings and biweekly Lead/ Professional Staff Meetings.
- As leader of the Creative Team, the lead will manage and oversee all creative visual, design and display projects in promoting AS/ SDSU Campus Recreation programs to the SDSU community. Works with the Graphic Artists in maintaining the ARC image and style sheet consisting of fonts and image types, professionalism, accuracy, ethnic diversity and consistency in all media including web site, flyers, posters and signs also ensuring that Associated Students is represented on all campus recreation materials.
- Prioritizes projects involving membership sales and works closely with Aztec Recreation Center member services and sales staff in the creation and implementation of marketing and promotional programs to enhance Aztec Recreation Center membership sales and increase member satisfaction.
- The lead develops and cultivates solid relationships with promotional, company vendors and maintains preferred-client status with display, sign and banner, and marketing materials companies. The lead is responsible for soliciting, selecting and purchasing display supplies and materials.
- Supervise a student web designer. The leads responsibilities include designing new web pages, updating current pages and ensuring that the ARC web site is up-to-date, informative, easy to use, compliant with SDSU and Associated students standards, and promotes Campus Recreation and Associated Students in a professional, consistent manner.
- Assists the Marketing Coordinator in developing and running special events each semester including the Wellness Expo and the ARC After Dark.
- The Marketing Lead works with the Marketing Coordinator as public relations liaison and is responsible for writing and issuing press releases and occasionally acts as spokesperson delivering presentations or public addresses.
- The lead prepares a monthly Aztec Recreation Center newsletter. Definition:
Under the supervision of the Marketing Lead Supervisor and Marketing Coordinator, the Marketing Assistant will be responsible for administrative functions that assist market research, graphic design, group outreach, newsletter publication, promotional event administration, Rec Sports and facility organization.

- Manage the drop-in racquetball program and racquetball ladder tournament

Accounts Receivable Clerk
Definition:
Under the supervision of the Membership Service Accounting Supervisor, the accounts receivable clerk will collect and maintain all membership Accounts Receivable records for the Aztec Recreation Center.
Typical Tasks:
Responsible for regular maintenance/mailing of 30 and 60 days accounts in arrears. Respond to questions from customers on account balances, and other routine information. Collect on past due accounts. Follows up with data entry, EFT Returns, Credit Card Disputes, returned mail and updating members' account information. Responsible for account adjustments, write-offs, and assisting the accounting supervisor in determining which accounts to be sent to collections. Run weekly and monthly AR reports. Function as a support staff person to the accounting supervisor posting, running daily reports, and completing daily audit reports.

ARC Team Challenge Facilitator
Definition:
Under direct supervision of Aztec Recreation Center Team Challenge (ATC) Lead Supervisor and overall supervision of Outdoor Programs Coordinator, will complete or assist with all duties and tasks outlined below.
Tasks:
- Assist in leading groups of 8-50 participants through a series of teambuilding activities, initiatives and processing
- Commitment to meeting the needs and goals of a variety of ropes course & teambuilding participant groups and individuals.
- Knowledge and ability to articulate the Experiential Learning Process through proper facilitation and group processing for a variety of ropes course & teambuilding participant groups.
- Insure all high & low ropes course & teambuilding equipment and props are used properly and safely at all times.
- Enforce, role model and be able to articulate all ATC, Aztec Adventures, and ARC policies and safety practices.
- Maintain, clean and organize ropes course & teambuilding equipment before, during, and after each use.
- Assist with all facets of weekend ropes course retreat programming such as: teambuilding and ropes course activities, evening programs, food service, lodging/camping, cleaning and organizing facilities, closing activities.
- Safely set-up and operate high ropes course elements with the supervision of ATC Lead Facilitator
- Drive groups safely to and from ropes course/retreat/teambuilding sites in 15 passenger program vans if valid certifications are current.
- Assist with the establishment and adherence to new safety practices, risk management, and use policies.
- Attend and participate in all mandatory ARC, Aztec Adventures, and ATC staff meetings and training.
- Assist with gathering and compiling feedback from participant evaluations, surveys and personal discussions to improve ATC programs.
- Make recommendations for equipment, new purchases, upgrades, retirement, etc.
- Work cooperatively with all Aztec Adventure Outdoor Program, Climbing Wall, ARC, ARC members, and AS staff.

ARC Evening Facility Supervisor
Definition:
Responsible to the Full Time Evening Facility Supervisor for the supervision of the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) between the hours of 11:00pm to 7:00am.
Typical Tasks:
- Supervise the ARC facility; ensure non-members do not use the ARC;
- Ensure interior and exterior doors are locked and unlocked as appropriate;
- Be highly visible in the cardiovascular equipment/ climbing wall gym and gymnasium;
- Secure the locker rooms; maintain communication via walkie-talkie radio.
- Perform "public relations" duties for the facility;
- Act as liaison to ARC members;
- Identify yourself and greet members as they enter the ARC;
- If time allows, provide facility orientation to new ARC members;
- Remain available to answer questions, follow-up on complaints;

- Ensure special event and all indoor intramural activities and sport club practice/competition equipment is set-up prior to agreed upon timelines.

Sport Clubs Graduate Assistant
Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Intramural Sports & Sport Club Coordinator, the Sport Club Graduate Assistant is responsible for the coordination of the Associated Students Sport Clubs Program.
Ensures completion of Program functions
Standards:
- Ensures Sport Club officers, coaches, and advisors are oriented to program policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all facilities and equipment that Sport Clubs use are in safe, playable condition.
- Conducts annual Orientation Workshop and end of the year Awards Banquet. Effectively administers the Bingham Endowment.
- Attends various Sport Club practices and games.
Ensures the completion of administrative tasks and functions.
Standards:
- Ensures the collection, dissemination, and organization of sport club membership rosters including: collection and maintenance of sport club rosters; athlete information forms; student driver forms; accident report forms; insurance claim forms; and any other required record keeping necessary.
- Coordinates and approves all Sport Club facility reservation requests including practices and games. Ensures that all reservations do not overlap with scheduled Fitness classes, Intramural Sports, academic uses, Athletic Department practices/games, and other programs/events scheduled in the Aztec Recreation Center and other on-campus facilities.
- Ensures that all Sport Club athletes are current members of the Aztec Recreation Center.

Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant
Description:
The Graduate Assistant-Intramural Sports will assist the Intramural Sports & Sport Club Coordinator with the coordination and administration of a comprehensive Intramural Sports and Special Events Program. Responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant-Intramural Sports include; recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate all part-time Intramural Sport Staff, coordinate the Intramural Sports calendar, assist with the promotion and marketing of all Intramural activities, and ensure the implementation of an appropriate risk management plan.

Definition:
Under the direction of the Intramural Officials’ Supervisor, responsible for officiating Intramural Sports contests.
Typical Tasks:
- Ensure each Intramural Sports contest is delivered in a safe and enjoyable manner;
- Responsible for the enforcement of rules, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Intramural Sports Handbook;

Facility Operations Graduate Assistant
Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Fitness & Facility Operations Coordinator, the graduate assistant coordinates the supervision and operation of the Aztec Recreation Center facility and other University facilities used by the Associated Students Campus Recreation Program.
Ensures completion of Program functions

Marketing Lead Supervisor

Under the direction of the AS/SDSU Campus Recreation Marketing Coordinator the Marketing Lead Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising the marketing team creative staff consisting of student Graphic Artists and Web Designers. This position primarily involves writing, editing, critiquing marketing communications pieces as well as communicating with recreation program coordinators to ensure timely and accurate marketing communications materials.
Functions:
The Marketing Lead Supervisor is responsible for supervising the marketing department creative staff in addition to assisting with day-to-day departmental supervision. Supervision responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, training, motivating, and disciplining.
As leader of the Creative Team, the Marketing Lead Supervisor will manage and oversee all creative visual, design and display projects in promoting AS/ SDSU Campus Recreation programs to the SDSU community.
Works closely with Aztec Recreation Center Member Services staff in the creation and implementation of marketing and promotional programs to enhance Aztec Recreation Center membership sales and increase member satisfaction.
Develops and cultivates solid relationships with promotional, company vendors and writes purchase order requests for lowest price bids. Works closely with Member Services staff to develop and coordinate one-day promotional events and member giveaways.
Maintains preferred-client status with display, sign and banner, and marketing materials companies. Responsible for soliciting, selecting and purchasing display supplies and materials.
Works with the Graphic Artists in maintaining the ARC brand identity, professionalism, and accuracy for all points of contact. The Marketing Lead Supervisor is responsible for developing and editing the monthly Aztec Recreation Center Newsletter.
Works with the Web Designer in all aspects of web site management including designing new web pages, updating current pages to ensure that the ARC web site is current, integrated with print, informative, easy to use, and promotes Campus Recreation and Associated Students in a professional, consistent manner.
Assists the Marketing Coordinator in developing and running special events each semester: ARC After Dark in early fall semester and Health Expo in spring.
Works with Campus Recreation program coordinators and lead supervisors in preparing accurate and timely promotional material for 14 campus recreation programs. Marketing materials include fliers, brochures, posters, banners, displays, and print advertisements. Proactively disseminates new program information to all marketing department creative staff to ensure web and print are fully integrated.
Works with Marketing Coordinator as Public Relations Liaison. Responsible for writing and issuing press releases and occasionally acts as spokesperson delivering presentations or public addresses.
Updates the Graphic Work Order Tracking Queue daily and provides weekly activity reports to the Marketing Coordinator.
Conducts weekly staff meeting with the creative team and actively participates in biweekly Lead/ Professional Staff Meetings.

Sewing Machine Operator
Definition:
The Campus Recreation Building Services Sewing Machine Operator will assist Building Services staff and outside contractors in the repair and maintenance of upholstery, sewn and soft goods in the Aztec Recreation Center, the Recreational Sports area and the Bowling and Games Center. Approximately 95% of time spent will be at the Aztec Recreation Center and Recreational Sports facilities, and 5% of time spent will be at the Bowling and Games Center facility.
Typical Tasks:
Under the general direction of the Campus Recreation Building Services Coordinator, the Campus Recreation Building Services Sewing Machine Operator performs the primary task of supporting Campus Recreation Building Services staff and contractors in the preventive maintenance and repair of upholstered, sewn and soft goods. Also responsible for other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

- Repair and replace upholstery for all of the weight room benches and machines.

Under the direction of the Sales Lead, the Sales Representative is responsible for selling Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) and Aztec Aquaplex memberships, promotional table set-up and staffing, telemarketing sales, and guest tracking.
Functions:
- Sell Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) memberships to SDSU students, Faculty/Staff, and the San Diego community. Work directly with current and potential customers, selling Aztec Recreation Center memberships and providing information to the SDSU community about all Campus Recreation programs. Must be fully knowledgeable of all the benefits (economic, physical, and mental) of membership and be able to communicate clearly and effectively with customers. Must be familiar with ARC membership contracts and policies.
- Ensures all membership EFT forms, paperwork and data entry is completed correctly and promptly.
- Follow policies and systems to ensure timely follow-up with current and prospective customers as well as to ensure accurate sales tracking.
- Work hours according to semesterly posted schedule. This position has school schedule flexibility and is only for the academic periods of SDSU Fall and Spring semesters.
- Ensure that each customer encounter is courteous and efficient.

Building Services Lead
Definition:
The Campus Recreation Building Services Lead (CRBSL) will assist the maintenance staff in performing repairs and maintenance staff in performing repairs and maintenance on a wide range of building equipment and fixtures, in the Aztec Recreation Center, the Recreational Sports area and the Bowling and Games Center. Approximately 80% of time spent will be at the Aztec Recreation Center, and 20% of the time will be at eh Recreational Sports and Bowling and Games Facilities.
Typical Tasks:
Under the general direction of the Campus Recreation Building Services Coordinator (CRBSC), the CRBSL performs all tasks of a Campus Recreation Building Services Assistant (CRBSA) including changing light bulbs and florescent lamps on the interior and the exterior of the building, assisting with monitoring and cleanup of locker rooms, washrooms and public areas, as assigned. In addition, the CRBSL will assist the CRBCS and the Campus Recreation Building Services Engineer (CRBSE) in the supervision of the CRBSA.

Under the direction of the AS/SDSU Campus Recreation Marketing Coordinator the Sales & Service Lead Supervisor (LEAD SUPERVISOR) is responsible for managing and supervising the campus recreation marketing research, secret shopping, special events and sales functions.
Functions:
Hires, trains, schedules, motivates and disciplines two or three sales representatives. Often works as a sales representative to cover shifts, deliver presentations and to experience the sales assignment first-hand.
Prepares bi-monthly commission reports carefully documenting all commissioned activities and retains organized records with back-up.
Prepares accurate and timely marketing research studies and customer satisfaction surveys and survey reports to help campus recreation team members improve program and facility offerings.
Manages the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) secret shopper program; creating scenarios relevant to programs, disseminating comprehensive and thorough monthly shopping scenarios to the shoppers, coordinating customer service committee reviews of the shopping reports, ensuring commissions for outstanding employee performances, and disseminating results of secret shopping scenarios to relevant campus recreation staff.
The LEAD SUPERVISOR is responsible for recruiting and retaining up to 20 secret shoppers and ensuring that all shoppers are adequately qualified, diverse, and that shoppers perform and report upon the shopping scenarios to a high degree of quality.
Individual must be fully knowledgeable of all the benefits (physical, mental and economic) of ARC membership and be ready, willing and able to communicate the benefits to current and prospective members clearly and effectively. In this position, the LEAD SUPERVISOR will become knowledgeable of fitness industry trends and competitive strategy.

Sport Club Intern (Volunteer Position)
Definition:
The Sport Club Intern will assist the Intramural Sports and Sport Club Coordinator and Sport Club Graduate Assistant with the administration and coordination of a comprehensive Sport Club Program. Responsibilities include: administrate the Sport Club program with 16 competitive sport clubs and ensure that each club and the 400+ student athletes complete all necessary paperwork. Ensure that Sport Club officers, coaches, and advisors are oriented to and comply with program policies and procedures, especially in regards to safety concerns. Assist in the marketing and promotion of the sport clubs and their events. Coordinate fundraising opportunities and advise the Sport Club Council.
General Information:
With an enrollment of more than 30,000 students, San Diego State University is located just 15 minutes from downtown San Diego, the beach, and 5 minutes from Qualcomm Stadium. Aztec Nights Supervisor
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Campus Recreation Program Coordinator, this position creates, schedules, organizes, supervises and evaluates all Aztec Nights activities in the Aztec Recreation Center.
Tasks:
- Ensures the diverse recreational and social needs of SDSU students are met with a broad-based comprehensive program focusing first and foremost on a safe environment.
- Develop popular and fun events with formal and informal feedback from ARC members; constantly strive to improve the program offerings with new, innovative events.
- Host monthly special events (on the first Thursday-of-the-month during the academic year) between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. inside the ARC that fulfills our goal of providing programming alternatives to alcohol and other drug abuse at SDSU.
- Host an ARC Open House (during the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Thursday-of-the-month) between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. that ensures SDSU students, with valid Red ID, have complimentary entry into the ARC as an alternative to alcohol and other drug abuse at SDSU.
- Ensure there is educational information, supplied from SHS, provided on the effects of alcohol and drug abuse.
- Encourage the SDSU community to enjoy the social and health benefits of the Aztec Recreation Center (ARC).
- Ensure there is a schedule of events; ensures facility reservations and setups are scheduled and approved without conflict. Ensure all room/facility/court closures are communicated in writing (posted) at least seven days prior to the closures so that ARC members are not upset about unknown closures.
- Maintains contact with ARC Facility/Floor Supervisor to assist with set-up and tear-down.
- Meet with other Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) programmers to ensure events do not overlap w/recreation.
- Promote Aztec Nights activities to the SDSU Campus (Greeks, Residence Halls, ARC members, non-ARC members, etc.) by generating enthusiasm and “buzz” with SDSU students.
- Assist with market research through periodic surveys.
- Perform “public relations” duties as a liaison to non-members when they visit the ARC during open house events; encourage non-members to join the ARC and enjoy the health benefits of the programs.
- Ensure daily reports and participation statistics are completed.
- Review the annual budget and ensure expenditures do not exceed limits.

Building Services Lead
Definition:
The Campus Recreation Building Services Lead (CRBSL) will assist the maintenance staff in performing repairs and maintenance staff in performing repairs and maintenance on a wide range of building equipment and fixtures, in the Aztec Recreation Center, the Recreational Sports area and the Bowling and Games Center. Approximately 80% of time spent will be at the Aztec Recreation Center, and 20% of the time will be at the Recreational Sports and Bowling and Games Facilities.

Specific Responsibilities:
- On a daily basis, check equipment and locker rooms as assigned.
- Assist with cleaning, preventive maintenance and repairs of building fixtures and equipment.
- Assist in making minor repairs, including changing filters, light bulbs and repairs to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
- Assist in maintenance and repairing exercise, recreational, and bowling equipment.
- Assist in light custodial and cleaning tasks; assist with the moving, relocation and setup of furniture, fixtures and equipment.
- Assist with scheduling, supervision, and direction of Campus Recreation Building Services Assistants.
- Assist with the scheduling and execution of Campus Recreation Building Services Work Order Requests.
- Assist with the maintenance of stock material and supply inventories.
- Assist in evaluating part time staff and schedule daily hours.
- Assist in hiring new employees to fill up current vacancies.
- May be required to work holidays and unusual hours, may substitute for absent Building Services Personnel as necessary.
- Other maintenance/custodial/administrative work as assigned.
Relationships:
Reports to the Campus Recreation Building Services Coordinator. In the absence of the Campus Recreational Building Services Coordinator, reports to the Campus Recreation Building Services Engineer.

Education
This employee must be an SDSU student carrying six units or more per semester as a regularly enrolled student.

Experience
A minimum of six month’s consistently successful experience as a CR Building Services Assistant, with an AS performance review average of at least 4.0 on the day of application. Candidate will be recommended and endorsed for the position by both the CR Building Services Coordinator and the CR Building Services Engineer.

Special Considerations:
Exposure to dust, dirt, grease and sand while performing various tasks should be expected. Schedule flexible. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work overhead.

Must be CPR/First Aid certifies (Red Cross or other approved course) at time of hire or achieve CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire at own expense. Must maintain current certification throughout.
