A Resolution Commending Kathryn Cohen of the California Public Interest Research Group

WHEREAS, AS has always attempted to promote civic engagement among students, and

WHEREAS, AS is currently sponsoring a campus-wide voter registration drive, and

WHEREAS, AS is attempting to register 5,000 students this semester, and

WHEREAS, Kathryn Cohen volunteered nearly 100 hours in ten days’ time to assist with the voter registration drive, and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cohen successfully recruited nearly 60 volunteers to assist with the effort, and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cohen contacted over 100 faculty to get permission to make class presentations in regards to voter registration, and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cohen assisted with the promotion of the AS/Rock the Vote program when the Vice President of External Affairs was unable to, and

WHEREAS, The SDSU/Rock the Vote Campaign would not be as successful as it has been thus far without the efforts of Ms. Cohen; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Associated Students of San Diego State University formally commends Ms. Cohen for her unusual efforts and extends our gratitude for her assistance.
