Fall 2007 – #CB F07-01

A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT FOR THE SDSU 2007 MASTER PLAN REVISION

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees, The California State University, has mandated an increase in the student–serving capacity of San Diego State University; and

WHEREAS, San Diego State University has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the SDSU Master Plan 2007 Revision, the proposed project, which enables the campus to meet projected increases in student demand for higher education, as well as further enhance its status as a premier undergraduate, graduate and research university; and

WHEREAS, the proposed project will provide a framework for implementing SDSU's goals and programs for the campus by identifying needed buildings, facilities, improvements and services to support campus growth and development from the current enrollment ceiling of 25,000 FTES to a new campus master plan enrollment of 35,000 FTES by the 2024/25 academic year; and

WHEREAS, the proposed project contains the acquisition and development of Alvarado Park which may ultimately contain 612,000 square feet of instructional and research space; and

WHEREAS, the proposed project contains the development of faculty/staff housing in the Adobe Falls/ North Campus Housing area on a 33-acre site owned by the university north of I-8; and

WHEREAS, the proposed project contains proposals for new buildings to house 2,976 new student beds on campus, a new Office of Housing Administration and Residential Education building, a new Student Center Expansion and Renovation project, a new 120 room Hotel, and a new Campus Conference Center; now therefore be it     

RESOLVED, that the Associated Student of San Diego State University, endorses the Draft Environmental Impact Report of the SDSU 2007 CAMPUS MASTER PLAN REVISION, and be it further

RESOLVED, that Associated Students urges approval of the Draft Environmental Impact Report of the SDSU 2007 CAMPUS MASTER PLAN REVISION by The Trustees of the California State University, and be it finally

RESOLVED, that this resolution is distributed to The California State University Board of Trustees and San Diego State University President Stephen L. Weber.
