RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE AZTEC CULTURE PROJECT

WHEREAS, the Associated Students of San Diego State University is the representative body, and the official voice of the students at San Diego State University, and

WHEREAS, it is the mission of Associated Students to, “…create, promote and fund social, cultural and recreational programs and facilities both on campus and in the community, advocate for student interests and participate in shared governance”, and

WHEREAS, the Associated Students of San Diego State University passed CB F06-06: Resolution in Support of Aztec Culture on December 12, 2006, and

WHEREAS, in said resolution, the Associated Students resolved, “That Associated Students will use its available resources and influence to preserve this campus’ recognition of the importance of Aztec Culture”; and

WHEREAS, the Aztec Culture Project incorporates the Aztec botanical garden, the Aztec mosaic mural, and an educational documentary component; and

WHEREAS, these projects have been conceptualized with the consultation and assistance of interested parties and student organizations including, but not limited to MEChA; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that by passing this resolution, the Associated Students supports the Aztec Culture Project initiative and upholds the commitments of previously passed resolutions; and be it further

RESOLVED, that Associated Students urges future Executive Officers and members of Associated Students Council to support this project and make all reasonable and timely efforts to see the project through to its fruition.
