March 19, 2008 – COUNCIL CHAMBERS – 3:00 P.M.

I.            CALL TO ORDER:
            Vice President of External Affairs Jeremy Ehrlich called the meeting to order at 3:37 p.m.

II.            ROLL CALL:

X.            INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS:
A.            #CB S08-01 Resolution in Support of the Creation of a Bicycle Lane on the San Diego State University Campus: (Information, 2nd Reading)

XI.            EXECUTIVE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
A.            President: James had no report.

B.            Executive Vice President: Jameson had no report.

C.            Vice President of External Affairs: Jeremy reported on the following:
1.            It is great to be back in San Diego!  The lobby visits in DC were very successful.
2.            Budget Rally… who’s going?  Make sure you’re there: Thursday, 12:00pm at Scripps Cottage.
3.            Housing pamphlet and Prison Break 2008 info is coming along nicely.
4.            CACC: all three students were appointed to the board.
5.            CHESS is coming in April!

D.            Vice President of Finance: Justin reported on the following:
1.            Justin is reviewing all forms that individuals and organizations fill-out.  It appears that students are confused about deadlines and how to fill out forms.

            E.            Vice President of University Affairs: Mike reported on the following:
1.            Please nominate a faculty or staff member for the UAB Faculty Appreciation Luncheon.
2.            March Madness starts tomorrow, baby!  Make sure you have your brackets filled out by tonight.
3.            Dude, the girls b-ball team had a savage run in the MWC tourney.  So if you see ‘em, tell ‘em good job!

F.               President Pro Tempore: Joy reported on the following:
1.            Deadline to submit Council member requirements is April 9th.
2.            Annual reports are due April 10th.
3.            Proposed changes to annual reports are due April 9th.

G.            Executive Director: Dan referred to the written report (attached).

H.            University Senate’s Designee: Dr. Ornatowski reported on the following:
            1.            Budget rally: March 20th at Scripps Cottage.  We need a big crowd, be there.
2.            Thank you on behalf of the Senate to the students for all of their hard work on the referendum.

I.            University President’s Designee: Rosa reported on the following:
            1.            Congratulations on passing the referendum.

XII.            REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS:
A.            Grant Garske – College of Arts & Letters Council:
1.            Reporting for NPHC: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc is having a fundraiser at Chevy’s Mission Valley, 1202 Camino del Rio North from 6:00-9:00pm.  This event requires a flyer that Grant has if you are interested.
2.            Zeta Phi Beta “Finer Womanhood Week” is March 23-29.  See Grant for details.
3.            CAL – AS endorsements are this week.

            B.            Liz Ring – College of Health & Human Services Student Council:
1.            ExploreSDSU, “For the Health of It,” went very smoothly.  There will be a one-unit trip to Mexico May 26th for all CHHS declared majors.  Let me know if you are interested.  The Annual CHHS banquet will be on April 24, 2008.  Nomination packets are available now so if you know anyone to nominate get them in as soon as possible!

C.            Ignacio Prado – Associated Business Students Council:
1.            DC went fantastic.
2.            SDSU evidently has one of the best AS’s in the nation.

            D.            Eric Wacenske – College of Sciences Student Council:
1.            We just got 30 students to come and help re-write the “my maps” for incoming freshmen in the Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, and Computer Science majors!  Hopefully our actions will help new students successfully enroll in alternative classes and eliminate impaction in popular courses, and show the University administrators that students’ input is necessary when choosing our courses.  Science Rules!

E.            Megan McCoy – Residence Hall Association:
1.            Elections for execs is Monday at 4:00pm.
2.            DC was fun!

            F.            Sarah Rossetto – Professional Studies & Fine Arts College Council:
1.            PSFA will be hosting its annual Inspiration Luncheon on Wednesday, April 16th.  It is to honor faculty and staff who have made a difference in our College’s organizations.

            G.            Jason Delodovici – Interfraternity Council (IFC):
                        1.            New member Series is March 24th at 7:30pm in Montezuma Hall.
                        2.            IFC soccer starts next week.
                        3.            April 16th blood drive for Greek Week: 10:00am in Aztec Center.
                        4.            80% of volunteers for ExploreSDSU were Greek!
5.            Greek Week: more than 300% raised compared to last year’s Greek Week.  Will donate to the Wheelchair Foundation.
