I.            CALL TO ORDER:
            President James Poet called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

II.            ROLL CALL:

PUBLIC COMMENT:
A.            Homecoming Event – Ervin Hernandez, 2007 Homecoming King: Ervin spoke to the Council about an upcoming event sponsored by SACL: “One Roof Campaign – Rebuilding a Home Through Community Unity.”

SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS:
A.            SDSU Center for Leadership Presentation – Dr. Cynthia Avery:  Dr. Avery presented a powerpoint slideshow to the Council regarding the Center for Leadership and shared the goals and vision for the Center.

B.            Quarterly Financial Report – Justin Motika, AS VP of Finance: Justin gave details about the 2nd quarter financial report, as attached.

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS:
A.            Appointments and Resignations:
It was moved and seconded to approve the Appointments and Resignations List as attached.

X.            INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS: NONE

XI.            EXECUTIVE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
A.            President: James reported on the following:
1.            James had a great meeting with The Daily Aztec staff regarding the referendum, Green Love, and a few other projects. 
2.            James also had his monthly meeting with Chief Browning, and they discussed the possibility of creating a town hall meeting open to all students. 
3.            SDPIC went well and all the intended schools showed up except USD.  We scheduled monthly meetings, and we plan on continuing the beach clean-up project. 
4.            The referendum is going extremely well!  Please come to the weekly meeting tomorrow at 5:00pm in the Backdoor.  Bring a friend!
5.            James congratulated Council member of the month, Natalie Colli.

B.            Executive Vice President: Jameson reported on the following:
1.            Student Org Forum has changed to a different date.
2.            Back Court Bash is February 23rd from 6:30-7:45pm.  Channel 933 and Chipotle will be there!
3.            Please get your game ticket before game day.
4.            Aztec Achievement Awards: applications are due March 7th.

C.            Vice President of External Affairs: Jeremy reported on the following:
1.            Because of time change in EAB meetings, Jeremy will be opening up recruitment again.  If you know anybody who is interested, please encourage them to get involved.  Meetings are 10:00am on Mondays in Council Chambers.
2.            CACC member registration forms are being passed around.  Please fill out and return to Jeremy.
3.            A copy of the EA report on the California budget and fiscal emergency has been completed. 
4.            The registration fee for the USSA Lobby Conference in March has been turned in and we’re all very excited for this event and opportunity to lobby at the nation’s Capitol.

D.            Vice President of Finance: Justin reported on the following:
1.            Justin met with a significant number of student orgs and gave them a better understanding of what is expected of them.  Please schedule a meeting with Justin if you haven’t already.  Deadline for budgets is February 28th.
2.            Green Love Board Charter will be coming before the Council later in the semester. 

            E.            Vice President of University Affairs: Mike reported on the following:
1.            Focus group for online services is this Friday.
2.            If you are interested in sitting on the Freedom of Expression or Sustainability Senate committees, see Mike ASAP.
3.            Mike will be giving CACC the semester review of the GNP.
4.            There is a referendum committee meeting this Thursday at 5:00pm in the Backdoor.

F.               President Pro Tempore: Joy reported on the following:
1.            Don’t forget: your Council member requirements are due by 4:00pm next Wednesday in the GAO.
2.            Rules Committee will be meeting in Calmecac next Monday.
3.            Happy Valentine’s Day.

G.            Executive Director: Dan referred to the written report (attached).

H.            University Senate’s Designee: Dr. Cezar Ornatowski reported on the following:
1.            The Senate is not meeting again until March 11th.
2.            The Senate Executive Committee meets next Tuesday.

I.            University President’s Designee: No report.

XII.            REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS:
A.            Sean Delizo – College of Sciences Student Council:
1.            American Medical Students Association (AMSA) is putting on the Global AIDS Action Week February 25th through 29th.  On Tuesday, the 26th, there will be gravestones tabling signifying those who lost their lives to AIDS. On Wednesday the 27th, there will be an awareness rally on the Free Speech Steps. On Thursday the 28th, there will be a Nacho Fundraiser for AIDS Research, and finally on Friday, the 29th, there will be awareness tabling.
2.            College of Sciences is putting on a reimbursement scholarship for students in the College of Sciences for their Spring ’08 books.  Submit a 200-300 word essay on why you deserve this scholarship to sdsusciences@gmail.com by February 28th.

            B.            Dawn Hinkle – College of Sciences Student Council:
1.            College of Sciences is holding a “Meet and Greet” on Monday, March 3 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Chemical Sciences Laboratory (CSL) 2nd floor patio.  This is a great opportunity to meet with Dean Stanley Maloy, advisors, professors, and peers.
2.            AMSA (American Medical Student Association) is holding Global AIDS week February 25th-29th.

            C.            Megan McCoy – Residence Hall Association:
1.            We are going to Oregon on Friday for No-Frills, our annual regional business meeting.
2.            Happy Week of Caring.

            D.            Ignacio Prado – Associated Business Student Council:
1.            International Business Society – First Meeting!  Info meeting, 6:00pm, Wednesday, February 20th, P-146 (Physics building).
2.            ABSC has taken up PSFA’s challenge to bowl – February 21st 5:00pm-7:00pm.  “Heads will roll… into pins!”
           
            E.            Andrew Byrns – International Student Association:
1.            Come on down to the ISC this week for some awesome Serbian food!  The event is on Friday and starts at noon.

            F.            Erika Cueva – MEChA:
1.            MEChA will be having our Spring Body Retreat from February 22-24 at San Elijo Beach.  Questions?  MEChA meetings are every Tuesday at 3:30pm in Council Chambers OR contact Erika.

            G.            Jason Delodovici – Interfraternity Council:
                        1.            All men’s GPA raised from 2.0 to 2.2.
                        2.            IFC elections coming up in March.
3.            Every Saturday at Woodstock’s from 8:00pm-2:00am, a percentage of all sales will go to The Wheelchair Foundation.
4.            IFC Basketball starts next week.
