A. Paula Pierson-Zombie Prom: Paula promoted “Zombie Prom,” which is a musical performed by MFA students on campus at the Don Powell Theatre.
SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS:
A. Public Safety Update – John Browning, Chief of SDSU Police Department: Chief Browning announced that everything is going really well and
welcomed questions from the Council members.
B. Athletics Update – Jeff Schemmel, SDSU Athletic Director and Sean Briner, Associate Athletic Director and the SDSU Women’s Water Polo
Team, Carin Crawford, Head Coach and Allison Gregory, Assistant Coach: Coach Crawford thanked AS for the Aztec Aquaplex, and had the student athletes
introduce themselves to the Council. Jeff and Sean congratulated the water polo team on their accomplishments and encouraged Council members to attend
University sporting events.
C. Career Services Update – Dr. James Tarbox, Career Services Director: Dr. Tarbox updated the Council on services provided by the office.
He also had a handout detailing the Career Services Employer Advisory Board and encouraged Council members to attend the “Student Connections” luncheon.
D. 4th Quarter AS Financial Report – Justin Motika, Vice President of Finance: Justin discussed the 4th Quarter AS Financial Report, and
referred the written report in the agenda packet.

EXECUTIVE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
A. President: James reported on the following:
1. Please RSVP for the University House event on November 7.
2. Please sign the thank you notes for Aztec Shops and AS Meeting Services for setting-up our outdoor meeting.
3 PIC will be Tuesday, October 23rd. James has received five RSVP’s.
4. 75 letters have been sent out to local high school ASBs encouraging attendance at our Council meetings.
5. There will be a representative from IVC attending our meeting next week.
6. James will be speaking at the War Memorial held this Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
7. Working on identifying the team captains for the different sport club teams.
8. James encouraged Council members to attend the Homecoming game this weekend and stop by the Skybox.
9. CFAC is cancelled this Friday.
B. Executive Vice President: Jameson reported on the following:
1. Awards Code updates/changes if it is approved by Awards Committee.
2. Sanskriti-problems with Montezuma Hall. Ask Jameson.
3. Student Org. Forum will be held next Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
4. Gavelcide is starting next week. Pick-up packets starting Monday until Tuesday at noon. Gavelcide begins promptly at 12:01 p.m.
C. Vice President of External Affairs: Jeremy reported on the following:
1. CACC voted to support the administrative citation and made amendments to support changes to the administrative citation.
2. Jeremy attended the City Council Land Use and Housing Committee meeting. Lobby Corps members were in attendance and spoke in front of
the Council.
3. Student Resource Center went well.
4. Drafts of EAB Alert! are available and will be distributed shortly.
5. Community service projects are coming along well.
D. Vice President of Finance: Justin reported on the following:
1. College Councils are all set to go with their money. Next step is a mid-semester review. Justin will be attending College Council meetings
and addressing how to monitor student organizations’ budgets and provide ways to get the maximum benefit from the money they have.
2. AS Gives Back: will be addressing the Greek organizations at the end of this week and then addressing the College Councils and other
student organizations.
3. GreenLOVE: Justin was extremely impressed by the event last night and further inspired.
E. Vice President of University Affairs: Mike reported on the following:
1. If interested in sitting on the Senate Student Grievance committee, see Mike.
2. GNP is tomorrow.
3. UAB will be looking at the Student Action Card (it is a comment card previously used by AS).
F. President Pro Tempore: Joy reported on the following:
1. Deadline for bylaw amendments is Wednesday, October 24th at 4:00 p.m.
2. Council member requirements are due November 14th.
G. Executive Director: Dan referred to his written report (attached).
H. University Senate’s Designee: Dr. Cezar Ornatowski reported on the following:
1. Football Resolution: someone from the Union Tribune was present and will report on it.
2. The governor vetoed SB 832, so the Senate did not vote on the AS Resolution supporting it.
I. University President’s Designee: Tim Rupe reported on the following:
1. Please see attachment.
2. There will be a student roundtable discussion hosted by Dr. Kitchen on Monday, October 29th from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in Casa Real. There
will be free food and an opportunity to have your voice heard. Please RSVP with Caroline Tanner at X4-4721.
XII. REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS:
A. Eric Wacenske-College of Sciences:
1. College of Sciences will be tabling tomorrow in Aztec Center in support of the Breast Cancer Walk. Come out and say hey!
Julia Rosenberg-Panhellenic Association:
1. Panhellenic is stoked for our upcoming Homecoming events!
Liz Ring-College of HHS:
1. The Student Health Advisory Board is having a blood drive tomorrow at the Free Speech Steps from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Also, we have finally filled our council, yay!
Andrew Byrns-International Student Association:
1. The 51st Annual International Peace Village is coming up! Be sure to be there. The event takes place in Montezuma Hall on November 15th from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Come experience all the cultures that our school has to offer.
E. Megan McCoy-Residence Hall Association:
1. This Friday, RHA and Aztec Nights are sponsoring the Moonshine Run – an alcohol awareness campus-wide run and scavenger hunt. October
26th is the 2nd Annual Monster Mash in the Tula at 9:00 p.m.
Alexi Biener-Jewish Student Union:
1. Mitzvah Day is November 18th from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Come help volunteer at various agencies all over San Diego, whether visiting with the elderly or providing families with warm meals. Any questions, talk to me or Hannah Berman at (619) 583-6080.
F. James Duffy-Honors Council:
1. The Fall 2007 Blanket Drive will be under way at the end of October. If interested, contact me at quantum.electric@sbcglobal.net. Shopping
spree for toys for children as well in December.
G. Lisa Doan-Associated Business Students Council:
1. ABSC approved moving $960 from ABSC’s IRA funds to the Hispanic Business Student Association for their upcoming conference.
H. Katherine Hunt-Andrea O’Donnell Women’s Resource Center:
1. Any orgs interested in helping out with Love Your Body Day on November 9th, you are invited to come to a meeting this Friday, October
19th at 11:00 a.m. in the WRC office.
2. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in Balboa Park. There will be a lot of SDSU students walking so
come out and show your support!
3. Breakfast With a Feminist will be this Saturday, October 20th at 9:30 a.m. It’s free and will be held at San Marcos’s campus.
I. Adriano Mabeza-College of Sciences Student Council:
1. College of Sciences Student Council will be taking part in this Sunday’s (10/21) Breast Cancer Walk. We will be meeting at the SDSU
bus stop at 7:00 a.m. The event starts at 7:30 a.m.
J. Dan “Mr. Council Member of the Month” Matthews-Professional Studies & Fine Arts:
1. PSFA cancelled Club Fair due to weather.
2. Had an Exec Meeting.
3. PSFA still rules all.
