I.   CALL TO ORDER

President James Poet called the meeting to order at 7:28 p.m.

II.   ROLL CALL

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda of May 2, 2007.

It was moved and seconded to add Item G. Appointment of Multi-Cultural Caucus Chair to Items for Consideration.

PELAYO/MATTHEWS                    CARRIED

Agenda approved as amended.

IV.   APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

NONE

V.   PUBLIC COMMENT

Khouloud Elmasri, Former AS Vice-President of External Affairs – Khouloud voiced her concern regarding the restrooms in Adams Humanities.

Sabrina Brown, Former AS Council Member – Sabrina wished the new Council well.

  1. Swearing-In Ceremony for 2007-08 Executive Officers:

    James Poet administered the Oath of Office to Jameson DeSantis, Jeremy Ehrlich, and Michael Matthews.

  2. Appointments and Resignations:

    It was moved and seconded to approve the appointments and resignations as attached.

    James administered the Oath of Office to the remaining Council members.

  4. Election of President Pro Tempore:

    It was moved and seconded to open nominations.

    It was moved and seconded to close nominations.

    Joy Salvatin was elected President Pro Tempore.

  5. Election of 7 members to Executive Committee:

    It was moved and seconded to open nominations.

  6. Approval of Fall 2007 AS Council and Executive Committee Meeting and Activity Schedule:

    It was moved and seconded to approve the Fall 2007 AS Council and Executive Committee Meeting and Activity Schedule, as attached.

  7. Appointment of Multi-Cultural Caucus Chair:

    Joy explained that the MCC Chair would act as the liaison between the MCC and AS.

    It was moved and seconded to open nominations.

    EHRLICH/DESANTIS                        CARRIED

    Nominations:

    Daniel Matthews

    It was moved and seconded to close nominations for Multi-Cultural Caucus Chair.

    RUIZ/DESANTIS                              CARRIED

    Daniel Matthews was elected Multi-Cultural Caucus Chair.

IX.   INFORMATION

2007/08 Key Priority Goals – Preliminary Draft:

James asked the Council to review the list of Key Priority Goals they had created just days earlier at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center.
