I. |
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Associated Students Board shall be to assist
Student Activities & Campus Life (SACL) in an advisory capacity.
Specifically the Board will:
- Serve as the advisory board representing the student voice as
they work with SACL staff to periodically review SACL policies, procedures
and services as they relate to the educational mission of the University.
- Work with SACL management to present student concerns related to
SACL.
- Develop collaborative programs between the Associated Students
and Student Activities & Campus Life to meet the needs of SDSU
students and encourage student participation in programs and activities
of the Associated Students and Student Activities & Campus Life.
- Keep the Associated Students informed of student issues related
to Student Activities & Campus Life

II. |
MEMBERSHIP

Voting
The Board shall consist of the following voting members:
- Two Associated Students Council member to be appointed by the
Associated Students Council.
- Six student-at-large members to be appointed by the seventh week
of the spring semester by procedures established by the Standing
Committee Code, to serve for one year. Preference will be
given to students with experience in recognized SDSU student organizations
and students who have been active participants in CCBSL programs.
- Interfraternity Council President or designee.
- National Pan-Hellenic Council President or designee.
- Panhellenic Association President or designee.
- United Sorority and Fraternity Council President or designee.

Ex-Officio, Voting
- Associated Students President or designee.
- Associated Students Executive Vice President or designee.
- Associated Students Vice President of External Affairs or designee.
- Associated Students Vice President of Finance or designee.
- Associated Students Vice President of University Affairs or designee.

Ex-Officio, Non-Voting
The Board shall have the following ex-officio, non-voting members:
- Director of Student Activities & Campus Life, who shall serve as the advisor to the Board.
- Coordinators of SACL programs as designated by the Director.

III. |
MEETINGS

Chair
The Chairperson shall be a student voting member who shall be elected by the Board subsequent to the spring General
Elections or as a vacancy occurs. The Chairperson will serve a term of one year. The Chairperson will notify the Associated
Students Council of any Board vacancies.

Quorum
A quorum shall consist of more than half the filled, appointed voting seats.

Absences
Any appointed member of the Board who missed any two of any ten consecutive meetings without being excused shall be dropped from the
Board. Any appointed member of the Board who is late by fifteen minutes or more after the meeting has been
called to order will be considered tardy. Two tardies constitute an unexcused absence.
Board members are responsible for not missing three out of ten or more than two consecutive meetings.
Absences and tardies may be excused by the Board Chairperson of by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of approval by the Board.
Tardies and absences will only be excused in compelling situations.

Minutes
The Board shall appoint a secretary to take minutes and to make these minutes available to all interested parties, to include
members of the Board and the Associated Students Executive Director’s Office for the A.S. office file.

Frequency
The Board shall hold regular bi-weekly meetings during the academic year, and shall notify the Associated Students Council of times
and places of those meetings at the beginning of each semester.

IV. |
JURISDICTION
The Board shall have the authority to:

The Board shall serve in an advisory capacity.

The Board shall advise on the expenditure of Associated Students funds and shall appoint committees and committee
chairpersons to assume designated responsibilities.

The Board shall serve as the Associated Students representative to Student Activities & Campus Life for discussions and
transmittal of student concerns.

The Board shall represent the student voice while working with Student Activities & Campus Life management to discuss student issues of concern.

PROCEDURES – None.

VI. |
CHARTER AMENDMENTS AND REVISIONS
This Charter may be amended or revised by a two-thirds (2/3) vote by the A.S. Council as specified in Sections 62 and 63 of the A.S. Bylaws.
All proposed amendments or revisions shall be reviewed by the Board prior to consideration by the A.S. Council. |
