Accessibility Policy
Accessibility is a goal for making web sites easier for all users to view. With careful planning, all users can be accommodated including people who
use a reader to read out web pages, people who cannot see the full color range, people with limited mobility, people with cognitive disabilities, people
who use text-only browsers or anyone who just wants to use a clean, concise web site.
Cox Arena is dedicated to providing accessible content on the Cox Arean web site. While in the process of editing the site, several measures
are being taken to ensure access to most users. These steps include:
- Correct Language
- The Cox Arena web pages are being updated with correct HTML and CSS language. This ensures that the information is provide in a clear, orderly manner
with no missing links or confusing directions.
- Multimedia Equivalents
- All images are being scrutinized for “alt” tags to explain content to users who do not view the images. Additionally, all information provided
in a non-text format will have a text summary.
- Decorative Color Only
- No color will be used to convey important information. It will just be used to style the page. The colors will also contrast sufficiently for most
viewers. The color scheme has also been tested for easy viewing by people with color blindness.
- Decorative Styles Only
- Text and Formatting is decorated with Cascading Style Sheets so as not to load the pages down with repetative code. This allows for quicker download
and faster processing. Styles are automatically read and used by most browsers, but they can be disabled if they make it hard for a viewer to use
the page. Styles are not used to simulate more approprieate markup languge such as headers and lists. Users can also change the size of the text for
easier reading by using their browser preferences. Changing the size of the text will not cause overlapping and distortion of information.
- Alternatives to Image Maps
- All image maps have appropriate “alt” tags to name the links for users who do not view images.
- Clear Tables
- All tables used solely for design are labeled as such. All tables used to organize information have a summary, table headings, and column and row
orientations. Tables do not rely on color to present information. Information is also broken down into smaller, clearer tables instead of large, confusing
tables.
- No Frames
- This web site does not use frames. This helps the user navigate the pages easier.
- No Flicker
- This site does not use animated gifts or images that flicker. Flickering images can be hard to some users to see and can trigger epileptic seizures.
- Limited Scripts
- The use of scripts are kept to a limit. Some JavaScript is used on the site. You can enable or disable the script through your browser. The information
from the script is decorative only, or is non-essential. Alternative text is provided.
- Skip Links
- Skip Links are available on every page for users to jump to the content of the page instead of cycling through repetitive links on each page.
- No Timed Responses
- There are no forms or scripts that require a timed response. Users can take as much time as need to access all information.
