As a Board member you would represent your child's classroom at all meetings and help to ensure information is shared with parents in your classroom via the Center list serve,, posters and/or handouts. If you do not serve as a voting classroom representative, you can be a member of a committee or subcommittee.
Elections are held each year in September. There is room for everyone, although only 15 positions can vote. All families are encouraged to apply. The Board meets every other Friday from 8-9 am in the Center’s multi-purpose room. Committees meet at least monthly, more often as needed, and dates and times vary depending on the needs of the committee members. All Board Members are asked to serve as the chair of or as a member of at least one committee. If your child is not regularly scheduled the day of the meeting, you may bring your child to class with no extra fee if needed for you to attend any Board or Committee Meeting. All we ask is that you talk to your Master Teacher in advance, so that they will be able to ensure the proper staffing ratio during the time you attend a meeting and your child joins the classroom.
Board Meetings are generally without children but this is not a hard and fast rule. Children have been brought to the meetings and sometimes it works well, other times it is tough for parents to concentrate on the meeting and keep a child occupied and content. Please talk with me if you have a question in this regard. We will find a solution that makes sense and allows all parents to be actively involved in the program.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
